New Long Class with market tour
From early July 2025 I’ll starts in a new wonderful location and I will make only this class
What I offer is a tour of the market called “Mercato di quartiere” which means “neighbourhood market” a wonderful covered market situated right 5 min. outside the centre of Bologna where we’ll buy the products we need for our lesson in the market shops.. Then we walk to the location of class and we will take a trip through some of the most picturesque areas of Bologna through a photographic exhibition of vintage pictures of Bologna and you can see how was Bologna more than 100 years ago and I tell you all about this city We’ll then starts with for the class.
What will I do?
You’ll be the protagonist of the class. I’ll enable you to do all (or most) of the preparation and cooking and, where necessary, I’ll show you some cooking techniques and secrets. We’ll cook traditional Italian dishes. The lessons are ideal for food fans, and are suitable both for beginners and for expert cooks and professionals of the food sector.
When?
Lessons are held all year round, with the exception of Sundays, Tuesdays and national holidays, when grocery stores and food markets are closed..
How many people are in a class?
These customized courses are for from 2 to 8 participants at most, (but I can make an exception and accept bigger group if you are relatives or friends traveling together). Children are welcome!
How long does it last?
Each class lasts from 6 to 7 hours, what with the time at the market, shopping, and then making and eating a three-course meal. This will be, I hope, a memorable culinary experience! Usually the class ends around 3 or 4 pm.
How will the day go?
At 9 am we meet for the start of the tour through the market and shopping (costs of ingredients included). At around 9,30/9,45 am we go to the beautiful place, which is about 3 minutes’ walk on foot from the market, where we will prepare a 3-course traditional or contemporary Italian meal. For this, taking into account your preferences and any food allergies or intolerances, and making sure it’s a well-balanced, delicious meal that you can put together within the time available. The mean may be composed of dishes of Bologna (as most people want to do here in Bologna) or Emilia-Romagna, preparing handmade egg pasta — or one from another region like Lombardy, Tuscany, Sicily, etc.; otherwise it can be a contemporary style Italian meal, whichever you prefer, but always made using the seasonal local produce.
The first course is usually carbohydrate-based. If you decide on a first course, you can choose between pasta (normally handmade by you), risotto, soup, potato gnocchi, etc.
What’s included?
The price of the lesson includes water, coffee or tea, juices for children and a snack with a an aperitif (usually a glass of white wine), to be enjoyed during the preparation of the dishes, and a bottle of good wine for every two guests to be drunk during the meal, which I will select for the proper combination with the dishes you prepare. Also included is the cost of the ingredients, with the exception of fish, shellfish, porcini mushrooms, and truffles.
